Whenever electric power is generated from solar energy falling on a PV module, electrical cables are used to carry the current. Electrical cables can be of 2 types namely AC cables and DC cables.
An AC cable is used to carry AC power from Inverter to the metering point. The right type of AC cable must be carefully chosen to ensure that there is minimal power loss along with maintaining the required levels of safety. It is always advised to use armored cables owing to the high levels of safety they offer. AC cables are a very common practice in solar systems in India. As per government norms, the wiring loss in AC cables should not exceed 2 percent.
Just like AC cables, DC cables are nothing but wires used to transfer DC power from the PV modules to the inverter. The dimensions and size of the cable must be apt enough to carry the required amount of current. In common practice, single core multi-strand copper cables which have a cross-sectional area of close to about 6 square mm are used. The rated maximum voltage is set at 1.8 KVDc for string connections between the PV module and the string junction box. A red color wire is used for the positive terminal of the PV module and a black cable is used for the negative terminal of the PV module.
We at Surajdada provide the highest quality AC and DC cables for our customers based on their requirements. We offer quality and all at very reasonable rates which is certainly unmatched in the industry today.
